Wii Kiosk Sighted In Our Area!

November 10, 2006

I stopped in at a GameStop in my area, and there it was: a Wii Kiosk. The Wii appeared to be all hooked up, but the TV wasn’t on. I talked to the guy working and he said that the Nintendo vendor would be in later to set it all up. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to go back there today, but I should be able to get over there tomorrow. The interesting thing is that store isn’t very high volume. So, I would assume that if this store in Colorado has a kiosk, then for those of you who do not yet have a GameStop or EBGames in your area with a Wii Kiosk, you should be seeing one soon.

PS3/Wii Pre-Order Handling at GameStop

November 10, 2006

I went in to my local GameStop today and talked to the employee on duty about the Wii pre-order. He told me that for the PS3, they will be calling people who have ordered the systems and making appointments after close on the day before launch, or before open on the day of launch. This employee said that it may be the same for those who have pre-ordered the Wii.

The positive in this is that if you were able to get a pre-order at GameStop or EBGames, you won’t have to fight the crowds at launch. The negative is that this may mean they won’t be doing a midnight launch as originally expected, so you may have to wait longer than expected to get your PS3 or Wii.

Don’t take this as being GameStop corporate policy, as this is just how a GameStop in my area is handling the pre-orders. If you braved the cold like me or were really lucky and got a pre-order, check with the store that took your pre-order before making assumptions.
