Online Confirmed for SSBB

In what took Nintendo forever to confirm they finally dropped the ball on Smash Bros. Online play. While it appears bare bones and is a far cry from anything Xbox Live has to offer the fact that they are including it should please fans. You have two options to play Brawl online.

You can play against friends from whom you have exchanged friend codes with and another option to play against randomly matched players from your region. There are a couple differences between these two options.

While playing with friends you can type out short messages and assign them to the D-pad to smack talk during gameplay. You can also assign yourself an avatar and your name will appear above your character while you are playing. The game will also keep track of your stats against your friends.

In random matches there is no smack talking no names no nothing actually. You will be playing against human opponents but it may feel like your playing against an insane computer opponent. Wheres our headset Nintendo?

Smash Bros. Brawl will release Dec. 3 in North America.
